Memoir Writing – 8 weeks (evenings)
Memoir is a literary term that means from memory. Memoir is an account of the author’s personal experiences – it tries to capture certain highlights or meaningful experiences from the past.
Memoir is a unique form of life writing that allows the author to confront and contemplate a significant period in their life and through the creative process share their experience and insights with others.

If you have a life story that you have been waiting to write and if you would like to learn more about the memoir genre and participate in creative writing lessons, contact Friars’ Gate.

*Creative Writing Workshops *

Select/write short stories that you consider worth perfecting/polishing

story. One copy should have the participants name and contact details on
the top of each page and should be submitted prior to the first class.
The other copy should not have a name on it and should be brought to the
first meeting of the group.

*Class will be divided into two parts:*

Each participant will “swap” their story with another member of the
group (N.B. – there should not be a name on this copy). Each member will
read the story they are given and make suggestions/ comments on the
text. All stories should be double spaced with adequate margins.

The second half of the class will consist of the participants reading
their chosen work aloud for the group. As a group, we will offer our
