Irish Theatre presents Cooley Women by John Dunne
Taken from the Ulster Cycle of Irish myths and legends Cooley Women consist of two one-act plays, each exploring key figures familiar to Irish audiences. The first is an account of Queen Maeve's desire to capture the Brown Bull of Cooley. The second features two of the Morrigan sisters, Morrigan herself and Macha (famous for her curse on all Ulstermen). Both plays offer an insight into Irish mythology and both contain celtic rituals of the time.

Noggin Theatre present Fruitcake by Alice Barry, starring Mary McEvoy
Mary McEvoy is outstanding in this one woman show. This one woman show takes the audience on an emotional rollercoaster that never fails to have the audience laughing, crying and raving about it afterwards.

Joe is a small-time builder whose marriage to Mary has broken up and Joe’s son has been executed as a result of his involvement in a political uprising.  Work is Joe’s answer to every problem.  Then one evening, two young men call to his door with stunning news - they've given a lift to a hitch-hiker and they swear the man was Joe’s dead son.

John MacKenna's new one-man play is a warm, moving, often funny and sometimes terrifyingly sad retelling of the story of three people.  It's a powerful and gripping contemporary retelling of an old story.

Lady Wilde with Patricia Leventon

Courageous and strong minded, witty and often outrageous, she defied her family’s pro Union politics and under the name of Speranza, electrified Ireland with her passionate tirades in verse and prose against the English.  She married the brilliant eye and ear surgeon Dr William Wilde, later knighted by Queen Victoria. At one point she bravely defended him in a libel case that was the sensation of Dublin, and foreshadowed her son Oscar's trial some thirty years later.  Lady Wilde, whose talk was said to be like fireworks – ‘brilliant, whimsical and flashy’, regularly held salons, to which the literary world came and over which she presided with panache.
